Why Group Travel?

The "Fair Play To Me" tour in Donegal 2006Why not just do it all on your own? In short, holiday packages provide a convenient, hassle-free experience at a much better price than you could get as a solo traveller. Some of the benefits include:

  • Affordability: Groups get the benefits of discounts and repeat booking bonuses which are passed on to you so you can get first class packages at economy prices.
  • Preparation: We’ll advise you what items to take, what types of clothing to have, the best way to handle your money once you are there, and address any specific concerns you may have before you travel.
  • Navigation: No getting lost, no map-studying. We know the best route, the best destinations, and the best back-roads! Our first tour ever, at the Quiet Man Bridge in Connemara
  • Cultural adjustment: If you are travelling with us, your guides will know when and how much to tip, what those strange items on the menu are, what is considered impolite, and how to navigate through a different culture.
  • Knowledge: We know where the traditional sights are, but we also want you to see things you might not otherwise have seen – the “back rooms” and hidden byways, the obscure pubs, the “locals” spots off the beaten tracks.wide roads Why Group Travel?
  • Safety: Group travel, especially when you are in a new place, is safer (and more fun!)
  • Companionship: The groups are big enough so that you have a range of people to chat with about your experiences, but small enough that you are not traveling in a pack, isolated from the local people and culture.

I did the Johnsmith version of the tour with my wife and 10 new friends in 2006. I created a Web site to remember it and trade comments etc., http://www.fairplaytometour.com.
Tom and John did a great job, and we had an awesome time. We were fortunate that the group really gelled together and stayed up past late each night in various hotels rooms after the pubs had closed. My comment would be don’t give Tom maps in Italian… he can’t read them especially up in County Donegal where those roads are so skinny.
Next time we’ll meet the king of Tory Island for a real visit.
Great trip!! So Far, So Good!
    Slainte!
